Community Guidelines
TrustWatt is a community of real EV drivers sharing honest experiences. These guidelines help keep it useful, respectful, and trustworthy.
Our Core Principles
Share your genuine experience. Your review should reflect what actually happened.
Criticise products and services, not people. Keep it civil, even when frustrated.
Share details that would help someone in a similar situation make a decision.
What Not to Post
No discrimination, bullying, intimidation, or threats of any kind.
Nothing that breaks the law or encourages illegal activity.
Don't include addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, number plates, photos of children, or faces of people who haven't consented.
No advertising, self-promotion, affiliate links, or repetitive content.
Only review products/services you've actually used. No made-up experiences.
Personal Data Checklist — Before You Post
Check your photos and text for:
House numbers, street names
Mobile, landline, business numbers
Personal or business emails
Blur or crop these out of photos
Without their consent
Never include photos of children
Tip: Review your photos before uploading. Use your phone's editing tools to blur or crop sensitive details.
Conflicts of Interest
If you have a connection to what you're reviewing, be upfront about it:
- Work for a manufacturer, installer, or leasing company? Say so.
- Received a free product or discount? Disclose it.
- Reviewing a competitor? Don't.
Undisclosed conflicts undermine trust and will result in removal.
Photo Guidelines
Photos help make reviews more useful. When uploading:
- Only upload photos you've taken or have permission to use
- Blur or crop out number plates
- Don't include photos of children or faces of people without consent
- Avoid photos that reveal your exact address
- Keep it relevant to the review (your EV, charger, installation)
Illegal Content and Reporting
We take illegal content seriously
Content that breaks UK law has no place on TrustWatt. This includes (but isn't limited to):
- • Content promoting violence or terrorism
- • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- • Content inciting hatred against protected groups
- • Defamatory content (false statements presented as fact that damage reputation)
- • Copyright infringement
- • Fraud or scam promotion
If you encounter illegal content, report it immediately using the steps below.
How to Report Content
Every review and comment has a Report option. Click it, select a reason, and add details if needed.
Email [CONTACT EMAIL] with subject "URGENT: Illegal Content" and include a link.
What Happens When You Report
- We review the report — Our moderation team assesses the content against these guidelines
- We take action if needed — This may include hiding, removing, or flagging content
- We may contact you — If we need more information to investigate
- The poster may be notified — Unless the report involves serious legal issues
Repeat Offenders
- • First offence: Content removed, warning issued
- • Second offence: Temporary restriction on posting
- • Third offence: Account suspension (temporary or permanent)
- • Serious violations: Immediate suspension without warning
Law Enforcement Cooperation
Where legally required, we may:
- • Report illegal content to relevant authorities
- • Preserve evidence and account data when required by law
- • Respond to valid legal requests (court orders, search warrants)
- • Cooperate with law enforcement investigations
We will not share your data with authorities unless legally compelled to do so.
What Happens If You Break the Rules
Depending on severity and frequency, we may:
- Remove the content — Take down the offending review, photo, or comment
- Warn your account — Give you a heads-up to change your behaviour
- Restrict features — Temporarily limit your ability to post reviews
- Suspend your account — For serious or repeated breaches
- Report to authorities — If content is illegal, we may be required to report it
We aim to be fair and proportionate. If you think we've made a mistake, you can appeal by emailing [CONTACT EMAIL].
A Final Thought
TrustWatt works because real drivers share real experiences. The best reviews are the ones you'd want to read if you were about to buy an EV or install a charger.
Thanks for being part of the community. 💚
